Hang, Love, Repeat: Seasonal Wreaths for Every Month of the Year
Jan 20th 2026

One of the best things about decorating with wreaths is how easy they are to use. Just hang one and you’re done!
Using the same hook in the same spot – your front door, entryway or fireplace mantel, for instance – you can instantly update the mood of your space. Wreaths are a terrific way to continue a design theme, reflect seasonal celebrations and add color and texture to refresh your decor.
If you only use wreaths at Christmas time, you’re missing out on some serious decorating power the rest of the year! Thanks to their broad style range and versatility, wreaths are becoming an increasingly popular everyday decor element.

How Wreaths Can Provide a Style Boost
Wreaths are attractive and versatile. They come in many sizes and in styles for every season and occasion.
Furthermore, a wreath is a decorative accent that can be used virtually anywhere in your house, from your front door to your kitchen or bedroom. They are pretty, colorful and available in many styles.
Wreath materials may include natural-looking leaves and branches, silk flowers, wood flowers, grasses, pinecones, faux berries and gourds, and even LED optic fibers. That diversity creates a broad range of designs, making it incredibly easy to find a wreath style you like, no matter what your decor.
Hanging a wreath is a simple way to add color and texture to a room and enhance your design scheme. You can even use a wreath to bring attention to furnishings or an architectural element, such as a fireplace mantel, a stunning credenza in the entry or your living room sofa.
In addition, wreaths are generally affordable and require little storage space.

What Kind of Wreath Should I Choose?
Just as a great pair of shoes or a stylish hat adds oomph to an outfit, a seasonal wreath is a smart way to accessorize your home.
Similar to your wardrobe accessories, look for a wreath that suits your mood and decor. Keep things fresh by seasonally switching out your wreaths to reflect a holiday or time of year.
For instance, you can add a bit of romance to your winter decor with a cheerful Valentine’s Day wreath, or anticipate the colors of spring with a softly-tinted floral or Easter wreath.
Transition to summer with textural wreaths featuring green leaves or grasses, or echo summer’s profusion of color with an exuberant floral wreath. Hang a red, white and blue wreath and you’ll be in style from Memorial Day through 4th of July and into Labor Day.
Anticipate autumn with a harvest wreath in shades of gold, crimson and brown, or jump right into the spooky season with a fun new Halloween wreath.
With so many designs and styles, possibly the only hard part about decorating with wreaths is choosing your favorite!

How Do I Pick the Right Size Wreath?
Proportion is key when deciding what size wreath to choose. Consider the location and scale. In general, a larger wreath will have more impact than a smaller wreath when hung over a fireplace mantel or on a broad, blank wall. However, even in a large space, a smaller wreath can be used effectively in combination with other decorations.
For door wreaths, it’s common to leave four to six inches of space from the outer edge of the wreath to the door frame on either side. Wreaths that will hang over a fireplace typically range from one-third to one-half the width of the mantel or fireplace surround.

How Should I Care for My Wreath?
To store a wreath, cover it with plastic or cloth and hang it in a cool, dry spot where it won’t be disturbed.
If you need to lay your wreath flat, avoid putting anything on top of it. Some materials, like dried flowers and wood curls, are brittle, and silk flowers can be flattened or creased. Consider keeping your wreath in a wreath storage bag for added protection.
Make sure your front door wreath is suitable for outdoor use, or protected from the elements by a roof or storm door. If the product information for your wreath advises against outdoor use, avoid harsh sunlight and exposure to snow and rain.
Proper care can ensure your wreath will last multiple seasons.
