Bloom into Spring: Beautiful New Floral Accents for Your Home
Mar 31st 2026

Flowers are one of the joys of spring. Visible signs of warmer weather, seasonal blooms in all their color and variety lift our spirits and feed our souls after the gloom of winter.
However, different parts of the U.S. experience spring in different ways. People in one state might still be scraping frost off their car windshields each morning while residents of another state are planting their gardens or opening their swimming pools.
Thankfully, floral decor expresses the essence of spring in all its abundant glory, even if we aren’t yet experiencing it in real life.
Whether or not you’re delighting in the first blooms of spring or still waiting for the snow to melt, Christmas Central has a bounty of floral decorations to bring a breath of spring into your home.

Christmas Central Answers Your Spring-Related Questions
What is the vernal equinox?
The Vernal Equinox, or the First Day of Spring, occurs when the Earth’s northern and southern hemispheres are an equal distance to the sun. This only occurs two times a year, on the first day of spring (the vernal equinox) and the first day of autumn (the autumnal equinox).
Why? Because our planet is slightly tilted.
Imagine the earth hanging in space from a string attached to the north pole. If that were the case, the north and south poles would align straight up and down. In reality, however, the earth is tilted 23.5 degrees off center. This angle means that as our planet makes its 365 day trip around the sun, the North Pole is sometimes tipped a bit closer to the sun than the South Pole, and vice versa. The time at which a pole is closest to the sun is known as the solstice. Furthermore, two times a year, both poles are side-on to the sun. These days are the equinoxes.
This chart from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provides a good visual explanation.
When is the first day of spring?
The first day of spring falls on two different calendar days, depending on whether you live north or south of the equator (the imaginary line that represents the widest part of the planet).
For people in the northern hemisphere, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, China, Russia, Japan and the northern half of the continent of Africa, spring arrives Friday, March 20, 2026. This is one of two days of the year when the north and south poles are the same distance from the sun.
In the southern hemisphere, including Australia, the southern part of Africa and most of South America, March 20 marks the first day of autumn!
While March 20 is frequently the first day of spring, the date can vary from year to year, because the Earth’s orbit doesn’t align perfectly with the calendar year. Therefore, spring will arrive on March 20 in 2027, 2029 and 2030. However, in 2028, the first day of spring falls on Sunday, March 19.
Did our ancient ancestors know about the equinox?
People have tracked the sun’s path for thousands of years. Many ancient cultures based their religious and agrarian practices on the position of the sun.
In fact, some ancient structures that align with the sun during the equinox could have been built specifically to mark the sun’s movements. These include Stonehenge, in England; the Sphinx, in Egypt; Chichen Itza, Mexico, and Angkor Wat, Cambodia.
