Make Your Own Ornament Wreath
Ornament wreaths are a new style of decoration. It is very easy for ornaments to accrue in great numbers over the years, and this offers a way to recycle ones that are no longer seeing active use.
To create your own, you will need the following materials:
A Styrofoam wreath ring
Ornaments, all sizes (depending on the sizes of the ornaments and the planned wreath, could be over 100)
Hot glue gun
As there are many techniques possible to use for making this wreath we will give just one example. Before beginning, you will want to remove any hangers, hooks or ornament caps from the supplies you will be using, in order to give the final product a more consistent appearance, without any stray bits of metal.
Start with the largest ornaments, gluing them to the wreath, roughly equally spaced. Don’t forget that you will need to cover the wreath on all sides, so space your ornaments accordingly. The next sets of ornaments, the second largest and so on down, should be treated the same, slowly putting them onto the wreath to fill space in. Ideally, as you get to the smaller ornaments, you will have larger and larger numbers to work with, as you will need more of the small ones to make the best product. The ornaments late in the construction won’t necessarily be glued directly to the wreath, but might instead be attached to other ornaments already placed on the wreath. At this point, there isn't much in the way of specifics. Just continue to add ornaments, judging by eye if any part is getting uneven or needs more added to it.
Once the glue is set, congratulations! You’ve created a variant on the standard wreath and ornament ideas that will leave a lasting impact on those who view it. If you don’t feel up to making this wreath, or do not have enough "scrap" ornaments for the project, it is available in the store. These premade ornament wreaths use all shatterproof ornaments, and come in multiple colors and finishes.
