| Tips for Hiding Cords and Placing Accessories: The following suggestions will help cleverly disguise light cords, adapters and accessory wires. Materials Needed: Wallboard saw or electric foam cutter Styrofoam base ![]() Scissors White Adhesive tape Floral greening pins Upholstery tacks Hot glue gun Directions: Hide the light cords by making a V-shaped cut into the foam base using a wallboard saw or foam cutter. Remove this section and lightly sand off the bottom using sandpaper or another piece of foam. Lay the cord inside the channel and use white adhesive tape to hold it down. Replace the top section of foam to cover the cord. Tape the top of the foam, creating a smooth, even surface on which to place Village pieces. Cut out spaces in the foam with a wallboard saw or foam cutter to accommodate the adapters. Cut a small trench in the foam base with the edge of a scissors to conceal the wires. Place floral greening pins over the wires to secure them. Hold cords tight to Styrofoam by using floral pins. Hot glue street lamps or other accessories in place. Apply glue to bottom of accessory, let cool slightly before placing directly on foam or glue floral pin to bottom of accessory for a stick pin effect. When laying brick or cobblestone streets, use double stick tape. Trees look best when clustered together. Take bases off of sisal, bare branch and birch trees, then plant the cluster directly into Styrofoam. Arrange all other village accessories in place and dust with snow to cover pins. Use a small pastry brush to create paths and clean up edges. |
